At our first meeting, we explain to you who we are, what services we provide and why you have come to see us. We explain what things cost and what you can expect from the process. One key difference is that we come to you – we understand the pressures of full-time work, particularly in demanding professions, and so we are available after-hours and on weekends to meet with you.
In order to provide you with the best possible strategies, we need to know who you are and how we can help. We collect targeted information about your personal and financial situation, depending on what advice you are requesting. We need to be able to quantify and qualify your information in order to provide you with an appropriate plan of action.
Our Odyssey team works through the data collected to truly analyse your current situation, your goals, your needs and any requirements you may have. This forms the basis for developing our recommended strategies. Once we have our strategies in place, we undertake comprehensive research and product comparisons to make sure we choose the right fit for you.
Our recommendations and research are compiled into a Statement of Advice, which is a detailed document that discusses our rationale for arriving at our recommendations, including alternative strategies & products that were discarded. Typically, projections and cashflows are included in our statements of advice to ensure you understand the financial impact of our advice. We also disclose whether there are any potential conflicts of interest.
We discuss with you in detail the Statement of Advice and take you through each section of our recommendations. If you are happy with the strategies and choose to proceed with our recommendations, you sign an Authority to Proceed and we can begin implementation.
Once we have your written approval, Odyssey begins to work with you to implement the recommendations. This step includes completing application forms and submitting them on your behalf to the relevant product providers. We work hard to ensure the best possible outcome and to make sure the process is as smooth and issue-free as possible.
With Odyssey, we pride ourselves on being available to assist you at any time. Along with our regular reviews, they Odyssey team is only be too happy to answer any questions you may have as they arise. We don’t believe in seeing you only once a year – our services don’t stop once the meeting is over.
It is not only a legal requirement but absolutely essential that we meet with you at least once per annum. This is to ensure that our strategies remain appropriate to you, particularly if you have had any life changes throughout the year. WE also need to check whether our recommendations are progressing towards the expected goals. We give you the option of choosing the frequency of your reviews – either annually, half-yearly or quarterly.
